Measure your life by
impact, not income.

I'm Mike Cangi — a Kennett Square kid who's spent the last 15 years building companies in Philadelphia that put people first. From cleaning 5 million pounds of trash out of waterways to delivering 100,000+ bags of fresh groceries to families who need them most, everything I build starts with one question: does this actually help someone?

Philosophy

Measure your life by impact,
not income.

This isn't a tagline — it's the filter I run every decision through. Which venture to start. Which partnership to take. How to spend a Saturday. If it doesn't create real impact for real people, it doesn't make the cut.

Hospitality Is the Business Model

Every business I build is a hospitality business. At FareRx, we don't have users — we have members we treat like family. At Society Hill Hotel, every room honors 192 years of history. The relationship IS the product.

Analog in a Digital World

In a world obsessed with apps and automation, I bet on phone calls, handshakes, and showing up at someone's door with fresh groceries. Trust isn't built through a screen. Presence is the ultimate competitive advantage.

Everything Has a Story Worth Honoring

A 192-year-old flophouse has layers of wallpaper worth recreating. A waterway has beauty worth fighting for. A family's first bag of fresh produce is a moment worth witnessing. I build for the stories we tell in 20 years, not the metrics we report next quarter.

Family Is the Why

Four kids under seven. My wife Katie — my 8th grade crush. My grandmother Helen, living next door. They're the reason behind everything: the urgency to build things that matter, the refusal to waste time on things that don't.

The Journey

Kennett Square kid.
Philadelphia builder.

Temple grad, husband to Katie (my 8th grade crush), father of four, Phillies fan for life. Back home in Kennett Square now — still building everything out of Philly.

2007

Kennett Square → Temple

Small-town kid heads to Philadelphia. BBA in Entrepreneurship from Fox School of Business. Never really left.

2010

United By Blue

Co-founded an outdoor brand with a promise: remove one pound of trash from waterways for every product sold. Built it to $20M revenue with flagship stores, cafés, and 350+ retail partners.

2022

FareRx + UBB Acquired

Founded a food-as-medicine company to hand-deliver fresh groceries to health plan members. Same year, United By Blue was acquired after 12 years and 5M+ pounds of trash removed.

2023

Society Hill Hotel

Bought a fire-damaged, 192-year-old former flophouse in Old City. Spent a year restoring it into a 15-room boutique hotel, restaurant, and whiskey bar. Found a secret tunnel under 3rd Street.

2024

Forbes + Scaling FareRx

Became a Forbes contributor. Gave the commencement speech at Kennett High — 18 years after sitting in those seats. Crossed 100,000 grocery bags delivered.

2026

Helen

Built and launched Helen — an AI tool that translates insurance cards into plain English. Named after my grandmother, who lives next door. Now being adopted by Community Health Workers across the country.

Let's Talk

Always up for coffee, a Phillies
game, or a good idea.

Whether you're working in food-as-medicine, health equity, hospitality, mission-driven business — or you just want to talk about the Phillies' rotation — I'd love to hear from you.
